As a new Mum I was keen to provide my baby with the healthiest most natural start in life but found that often this idealist ‘green’ approach was hard to maintain as our lives are much busier than that of our grandmothers who never had to take baby out in the car etc   so when a friend lent me the ‘snug wrap’ to try I was sceptical that I could keep it up as I had failed with the pins and diaper pants before.  However after two days I was on line and purchased my first set.

The system is as easy to use as disposable diaper and I found I didn’t have to change any more than I did before, I have subsequently had three more children and apart from a couple of new wraps for my forth have used the same ones.

The things I like so much are:

1)     Not having to buy disposable diapers! (apart from the odd pair if we go away as it’s a bit of a pain to take cloth diapers away)

2)     Far more natural to surround babies sensitive skin with cotton than plastic which contains phthalates

3)     Better for the very generation that we are nurturing, they will not thank us when they have to deal with the contamination of our ground and water when they are in their 20’s because we were too lazy to wash a few diapers

4)     Don’t have to feel bad if you change them and they do another poo straight away!  How many times do you throw a barely used diaper in the trash?

6)     No tricky folding, pins, washing instructions, soaking……………………………you just put them in a bucket and do a load of whites every couple of days.  They dry so fast that you can almost use the wraps straight out of the machine.

‘I ordered the birth to potty pack because this system had the best reviews.  I went to pack away the newborn diapers, when I realized I can use the smaller diapers as a “catch pad”/bib for breastfeeding. I’m currently on the Infant size and I’m using the Crawlers and Toddler sizes as tummy-time drool mats, drool mats for naptime, lap pads, and as changing pad liners. The use as changing pad liner was an epiphany after reading so many bad reviews for changing pad systems that required special liners that ultimately end up rolling and bunching in the wash. I received some name-brand washable lap pads as a gift, and they were really small and only lasted two washes before falling apart because they’re just two pieces of felt glued together; what a waste! These Real Nappies have turned into so much more than just diapers, and this set really is everything you need to diaper your baby!’

2.  Easy to clean:

‘I use Charlie’s Soap and Haven’t had any staining or odor issues yet.’

3.  Know when your baby needs changing:

‘When you feel the diaper, there’s never any question if it’s wet, versus with disposables we’re always poking the diaper over and over again to figure out if that’s the reason baby’s crying.’

4. Nappy Rash?  What’s that!

‘When my baby was sick and having diarrhea, we went 48 hours in disposables, and in that short amount of time he got diaper rash. When we switched back to the nappies, the rash went away. We’ve never had to use diaper cream (why add more chemicals to your baby’s life?).’

5. Excellent Quality.

‘These cloth diapers have far better workmanship than other prefolds out there.  The sewing is tidier and doesn’t unravel. For the diaper covers, I love that the fabric is soft and there’s no exposed PUL (other companies have an exposed polyurethane liner, almost like pizza parlor tablecloth, and it tends to get sweatier).’

Now I am using the Cloth Diaper booster pads correctly, the side that goes against Harry is so dry in the morning you could eat your breakfast off it!  He is definitely not waking due to feeling wet now and I’m delighted to say our emergency pack of disposables for his current size is untouched and we’re about to move up a level.
