Of course with Real Nappies prefold diapers being 100% cotton they are soooo easy to maintain and wash.  Our covers are also really easily to look after.   You can hot wash both cotton diapers and covers, no worries about special washing!  There are some ingredients however we suggest you never use on your cloth diapers or covers.

Ingredients to Avoid in your Washing Detergent

• Whiteners and Brightners (tiny particles that remain on your clothes making them seem brighter after washing.  These are not necessary and may cause
• Whitening enzymes (help dissolve stains but can cause skin reactions on sensitive babies)
• skin irritation)

• Fragrances and Dyes (Unnecessary chemicals for babies’ laundry)

• Bleach (harsh chemical against babies’ delicate skin)

• Fabric softener (leaves a residue on your diapers and will cause them to be less absorbent

Cheaper Detergent can be better for your Real Nappies Cloth diapers!

Cheaper detergents are less likely to contain any of the above additives that are best avoided.  Therefore you may be able to get away with a cheaper detergent to use on your cotton cloth diapers – saving even more money through using Real Nappies!!

TopTip: Remember to always use less detergent when washing cloth diapers – usually about 1/4 of manufacturers recommended amount, that way you will not build up a detergent residue on your covers which can lead to stinky, inaffective covers.

It’s the same story in Australia as it was in the US – everyone was so surprised we guarantee our diapers for 2 kids. 

Melbourne is a great city and I’m so lucky I get to travel around so much spreading the word of the cloth diaper. 

Having said that there are lots of cloth diaper firms now, they seem to be popping up everywhere, far more than when we first started around 8 years ago.  So I guess I’m not the only one spreading the word on cloth diapers which is great news!

Heaps of people though like Real Nappies because of their simplicity.  As I’m sure you know there are quite a few different styles of cloth diapers out there.  The most complex being the one size fits all diaper.  So many people were coming up to me with such confused looks on their faces not knowing which diaper brand to choose.  I go ahead and show them Real Nappies and they just say “wow, that’s easy.”

Then I go on and explain our Birth to Potty Pack, the most comprehensive pack of diapers on the market, I get another “wow.”  Then I eplain the Two Child Guarantee then along comes the third “wow.”

Nine times out of ten it then becomes an easy sale.  To me it’s a no brainer – all the diapers you’re ever likely to need in one box plus they are guaranteed for two kids.

Our US trip turned out to be great!  We made lots of new friends/contacts in Louisville, Kentucky where we attended the ABC Kid’s Expo.  The expo lasted four days and by the time it had finished we were all pretty exhausted, including our two kids, Emily who’s 11 and Joe who’s 8.

Everyone we spoke to was really impressed and surprised at the fact we offer a two child guarantee on our diapers, plus at our Birth to Potty Pack which includes all the dipers you’ll need plus heaps of extras too!

After the show the kids and us took a little holiday.  We visited Las Vegas and then onto LA to do the Disneyland thing.  We all had a fantastic time and can’t wait till next year’s show.
